Wix vs Wix Studio vs Wix Harmony: which editor to use.
Wix now has three editors. The classic Wix Editor, Wix Studio and Wix Harmony all build Wix sites, but they’re made for different people, priced on different plans and differ in what you can build with code. And once you start, a site’s design can’t be converted to another editor.

Switching later means rebuilding.
This is the part most comparisons skip. Wix doesn’t convert a site’s design between editors. Moving a Wix Editor site to Studio means rebuilding the design in the Studio Editor; Wix can keep the original site’s apps and data while you do. Going the other way isn’t possible: a site started in Studio can’t be switched to the Wix Editor. Existing sites aren’t being moved into Harmony, and we know of no way to move a Harmony site out.
So the editor you start in should be the one the site can grow in for the next few years. Picking the simplest editor now and rebuilding in two years usually costs more than starting in the right one.

Studio isn’t the expensive option on plan price: at every level its plan is listed lower than the matching Wix plan. The real cost difference is the build. A Studio site is usually built by a designer, so most of the money goes into design and development, not the plan.

Moving to Studio.
If your site has outgrown the Editor, a rebuild goes in this order.
List every page and its address
Keep the same addresses where you can. Any that change need a 301 redirect, or you lose the search traffic they earned. Wix has a URL redirect manager for this.
Create the Studio version
Wix can create a Studio version of an Editor site that keeps the original site’s apps and data. The design is then rebuilt page by page in the Studio Editor.
Re-test code and apps
Velo code is carried across and tested again on the new page structure, and every app is checked on the new design.
Publish when it’s ready
Your current site stays live until the Studio version is published. Publishing it needs a Wix Studio plan.

What is Wix Studio?
Wix Studio is Wix’s editor for designers, developers and agencies. It gives precise control over how a site looks on every screen size, plus custom CSS, Velo code, the Wix JavaScript SDK and tools for teams. It replaced Editor X.
Is Wix Studio free?
You can build a Wix Studio site for free. To publish it on your own domain without Wix Studio branding, you need a Studio plan. Plans start at $12 a month, billed yearly, in Wix’s US dollar prices.
What’s the difference between Wix and Wix Studio?
“Wix” usually means the classic Wix Editor: drag and drop, built for owners who edit their own site. Wix Studio is built for professionals. It has responsive breakpoints, custom CSS and team tools, and it uses its own plans. A site’s design can’t be converted from one to the other.
Does Wix Studio cost more than Wix?
Not on plan price. Each Studio plan is listed lower than the matching Wix plan: $12 against $17 at the entry level, $149 against $159 at the top. The real difference is the build. Studio sites are usually built by a designer, so the cost is in the design work, not the plan.
What is Wix Harmony?
Wix Harmony is Wix’s third editor, launched in 2026. An AI assistant called Aria builds and changes the site from your instructions, and you can still drag and drop. It uses the same plans as the Wix Editor. It doesn’t support page or backend code, or Wix Blocks apps.
Can I move my Wix site to Wix Studio?
Partly. Wix can create a Studio version of an Editor site that keeps its apps and data, but the design can’t be converted: it’s rebuilt in the Studio Editor. Your current site stays live until the Studio version is published, which needs a Wix Studio plan.
Is the Wix Editor being discontinued?
Wix hasn’t announced that. Harmony runs alongside the Editor, and Wix says existing sites keep working and can still be edited in the Wix Editor or Wix Studio.
Which Wix editor is best for SEO?
All three publish on the same Wix hosting with the same SEO settings, so the editor alone won’t decide your rankings. What matters more is the content on each page, how fast it loads and how cleanly it’s built.
