A marketplace rescoped before it was overbuilt

A property-services marketplace outgrew its platform mid-build. We flagged it early, laid out two paths and helped the founder rescope before overspending.

What the founder wanted

A platform connecting rental hosts, service providers and a field team: job requests, task assignment and notifications, built on Wix.

What changed

As the scope grew, three features arrived that the platform could not handle properly: messaging between every type of user, invoices that providers send and hosts pay inside the chat, and shareable provider profiles that take payments from people outside the platform.

What we recommended

Two paths, with the cost of each. Scale back on Wix and use outside tools for chat and invoicing, or move to a phased custom build on Next.js, Supabase and Stripe Connect, released one phase at a time.

“…he worked diligently to bring solutions and ideas to support our app development, and helped us to recognize that Wix wasn’t the best platform for our project long term. With his guidance, we are now rescoping the project to ensure that we build to spec.”

Custom apparel ordering, wired to a supplier’s live catalogue

A custom apparel ordering system with live supplier products and stock pulled through REST and SOAP APIs, scheduled sync jobs and a custom checkout.

The problem

A US custom apparel brand needed its store to show products and stock from its supplier, SanMar, without copying them in by hand.

What we built

Backend modules that pull products and inventory from SanMar’s REST and SOAP APIs, scheduled jobs that keep them in sync, custom filtering, and a custom checkout.

The result

After launch the store took more orders, and customers could find the right products and order them more easily.

CozyWatch: watch together on almost any site

A watch-party extension that keeps everyone’s video in sync on almost any site with an HTML5 player, with a shareable party link and a chat sidebar. No account needed, just a nickname.

How it’s built

A Manifest V3 Chrome extension, a Next.js web app for party links, and Supabase for anonymous sign-in and real-time sync and presence. Playback drift is corrected continuously.

Why it’s here

It’s how we use AI on client work. CozyWatch was built with Claude Code in phases, and each phase stopped for real tests before the next began. Phase 3 testing caught a bug where joining from the popup showed the party name but never opened the host’s video. It was fixed with regression tests before the phase closed.
